IEBC ex-boss Issack Hassan among 100 shortlisted for High Court judge post
Issack, an advocate of the High Court, was among the 305 people who expressed interest in the role.

"305 Kenyans applied for the 20 posts advertised. The JSC shortlisted 100 candidates," the commission said, adding interviews will take place on April 3-30, 2024.
In 2022, Issack was among 31 candidates shortlisted for a Court of Appeal judge post but he did not make the cut and was not among the six hired.
The ex-IEBC chair described his post at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as one the toughest and said opposition leader Raila Odinga played a big role in his rise to the electoral agency.
Raila said he and his successor, Wafula Chebukati, were favourites for the Court of Appeal post.
Issack sat in the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission (CKRC) from 2000 to 2005 but said he faced sabotage before his appointment.
Also on the shortlist for the 20 High Court judge roles is Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Alexander Muteti, who has successfully prosecuted several high-profile cases in Mombasa County.
Former Mombasa Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani, who presided over the Court Martial at the Kenya Navy, Mtongwe Base, which handed 25 ex-soldiers life imprisonment for dissertation of duty when the country was at war, will also be interviewed for the role.
Also shortlisted are Homa Bay Senior Resident Magistrate David Wanjohi Mburu, Sotik Resident Magistrate Barbara Achieng Oyoo, Kiambu Resident Magistrate Charity Chebii Oluoch, and Environment and Land Court Judge Lucy Mutai Kathure.
Practising lawyers who made the shortlist include Agnes Wairimu Njoroge, Andrew Bahati Mwamuye, Benjamin Mwikya Musyoki, Bensn Ireri Nyaga, Bruce Okombo Odiwuor Odeny, Dominic Kipkemoi Rono, and Dickson Odhiambo Onyango.
Others are Elizabeth Usui Katiwa, Emily Onyando Ominde, Elizabeth Nzioka Katumbi, John Walter Wanyonyi, Judith Auma Okai, Isaiah Franklin Omimo Omimo, Moses Ado Otieno, Lilian Machio Amere, and Pamela Achieng.
